helping my son get allergy relief until medicine kicks in?

my 4 year old son has allergies really bad. he is starting back on his medicine for the spring through the fall. it takes a few days to get any relief and he is coughing so bad he barely gets to rest and he is puking from all the drainage (this is not uncommon for him). i was wandering if anyone knew what i could do to try and help give him some relief from the draining and coughing until his meds help. i have a humidifier in his room already. please help. thank you.

There are some general measures to allergy relief beside medicine, first the environment; avoid at all cost tobacco smoke, avoid known allergens: for pollen you can use air conditioners and air filters, clean more often and avoid outdoor activities, For dust mites avoid humidifiers, carpeting or rugs, teddy bears, vacuuming more often helps, wash linen with hot water cycle and dry it with sun light. At the end the combination of all these measures could help. Of course you should have an allergist or pediatrician that would identify if your son also needs inhaled therapy (such as albuterol and inhaled corticosteroids) even systemic corticosteroids. My mom used to give me nasal washes with salt water and chamomile, there are plenty of commercial products such as sterilized sea water that could help in the worst days, also drinking a lot of liquid helps to clear the mucus… I hope to be of some help and that you all have a better day tomorrow

Can I take Benadryl allergy and sinus headache while trying to conceieve, will this lessen my chances?

Yes they will if there’s an antihistamine in them, which there usually is. An antihistamine will stop the mucus production in your body and that includes cervical mucus. If you don’t have cervical mucus, the sperm have nothing to swim in.
Good luck!

good medicine for allergy relief……allergic to dogs plz help?

mi sister has a cute little small dog and my bf is allergic to dogs..and we always go visit my mom (where the dog is at)..and they go visit us at our apt. (with the family dog of course) so as you can see he’s always around him..we tried BENADRYL for allergies and doesn’t work, anyone know A GOOD allergy relief MEDICINE ????????

The best thing is a steroid nasal spray like: Nasonex. I have severe allergies to alot of things including dogs, cats etc. I use this daily and I hardly ever have an allergic reaction any more. The key to the Nasonex or any steroid nasal spray is that it stops the allergic reaction where it starts; the nose. Ask your doc about it. I’ve been using it for 3 years now and should of started sooner. Remeber if you use it, it takes a week to start working and you have to use it every day for it to help, not just when you are symptomatic.

what type of allergy can cause sinus pressure and headaches?

i am allergic to cat dander, dust, amd ragweed. recently found out allergic to milk get bad diahrea and gas pains. what foods can cause congestion, sinus pressure , headaches itchy ears. have headaches for 5yrs daily. wheat, eggs chocolate?

When a person with an egg allergy eats a food that contains eggs, the immune system unleashes an army of chemicals to protect the body. The release of these chemicals can affect the respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, skin, and the cardiovascular system — causing allergy symptoms like wheezing, nausea, headache, stomachache, and itchy hives

Allergic reactions to wheat (IgE-antibody mediated) usually begins within minutes or a few hours after eating or inhaling wheat. The more common symptoms involve the skin (urticaria [hives], eczema, angioedema [swelling due to allergy]), the gastrointestinal tract (abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting, oral allergy syndrome) and the respiratory tract (asthma or allergic rhinitis). In association with exercise, reactions to gliadin or gluten can cause urticaria, angioedema or life-threatening anaphylaxis. As these proteins are present in other cereals, these symptoms may also occur in wheat-allergic individuals due to cross-reactivity.

Black Pepper!! I suffered with exactly the same symptoms as you ,plus swollen saliva glands. Black Pepper was the culprit. Since eliminating it, I have never suffered again!
